VERMILION COMMUNITY MUSIC ASSOCIATION
The Vermilion Community Concert Band practices every Thursday at the Lucy Idol Center in Vermilion. Practices for the summer concert season will resume on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 7:15pm. All interested musicians are welcome, including recent high school graduates.

ABOUT VCMA
The Vermilion Community Music Association (VCMA) sponsors two performing bands: the Vermilion Community Concert Band and the WindJammers Big Band. The VCMA is governed by a Board of Directors which has the primary goal of raising funds through corporate, private, and public donations, as well as planned giving events.

The Board enforces the Association's Constitution and Bylaws, conducts annual elections, and in general, works out the many details of VCMA business operations. Board members head various committees, such as Historian, Librarian, newsletter, fundraising, and special committees, as needed. Board members are "musical ambassadors" to and for the greater Vermilion community of Northern Ohio, offering presentations and Association information when requested by clubs and service organizations.

History of the VCMA
The VCMA was established in 1995.
All members are volunteers who enjoy playing, singing, and performing great music in and around Vermilion.
The VCMA sponsors two performing bands, the Vermilion Community Concert Band and the WindJammers Big Band. All band members are volunteers who love playing and performing music!
Rehearsal Schedule
The Community Concert Band rehearses every Thursday night from 7:00pm to 8:45 pm at Lucy Idol Center in Vermilion. ​Practices typically begin in February. The summer concert season goes from June thru September. Practices resume in October in preparation for the winter concert season (December).
Joining a Band
Membership is open to any area musicians who plays a traditional concert band instruments. There are no fees, dues, or auditions of any kind.

High school musicians may join the band at the discretion of the director.

VCMA Announces Annual Scholarship Winner
Congratulations to Gwendolyn Krupp, winner of the 2025 VCMA scholarship! Gwendolyn plans to attend Bowling Green State University for music education and work on jazz studies. She spent several years playing bass in the Vermilion High School Jazz Band and pit orchestra. She is also in the National Arts Honor Society.
